Preparedness Economy

Preparedness Economy refers to the economic system, industries, investments, capabilities and infrastructures developed to anticipate, absorb, respond to and recover from systemic disruptions.

It encompasses the public and private resources required to maintain the functioning of societies, economies and critical systems under conditions of uncertainty, including geopolitical tensions, natural disasters, climate-related events, pandemics, cyber threats, supply-chain disruptions and other large-scale shocks.

Unlike traditional emergency management, the Preparedness Economy is not limited to crisis response. It is based on the continuous development of readiness, resilience, strategic autonomy and adaptive capacity before a disruption occurs, turning preparedness from a contingency cost into a permanent field of economic activity, technological development and investment.
